It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in historic Granbury!
Granbury’s Lighted Christmas Parade, now in its 27th year, takes place on Friday, November 27th, starting at 6 pm. Every year the theme changes, so no two parades are ever the same. This year it’s called: “Happy Birthday, Jesus” and it tells the story of Christmas.
Arrive downtown early and enjoy candlelight, music, hot drinks, holiday-flavored popcorn, and good cheer! The Parade travels from the GISD Admin parking lot east on Pearl Street, then down three sides of the square continuing back on Bridge Street. Santa and Mrs. Claus will only meet children at the Courthouse Gazebo (like all of us, they’ve been swamped with growing to-do lists; and well, checking them twice). All children waiting in line to greet Santa will receive a cookie and hot chocolate.
The Granbury Candlelight Tour, a beloved annual town tradition, returns once again for it’s 32nd year. Grab a candle and under its flickering flame visit seven historically significant homes and marvel in the architecture and furnishings of this magical place.
In addition to the tour, there’s plenty of holiday spirit to go around, including a horse drawn carriage to sample holiday goodies from merchants on the square. The town’s historic buildings and museums will open their doors for free to anyone to enjoy during the event hours. A public tram will offer complimentary lifts from the home sites back to the square.
The Granbury Candlelight Tour takes place on two days: Friday, December 4th from 5 pm – 9 pm and Saturday, December 5th from 12 pm to 9 pm. For detailed information on the sites on the tour visit the event program online: http://granburysquare.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/CandlelightTour2015_EventProgram.pdf
